The Butterfly Effect

THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT

Today I saw a butterfly close its wings

And for the first time in my life,

I saw pretty turn into ugly when it simply decided to sleep

What are we? Who are we?

Shiny until we let the world in

Until the world lets us see the light in every little thing

Until then, and only then, when we have nothing but forward to steer in.

The moment it turns all dark and cold

When the reality of the light decides to set in,

When the world decides to clutter and wreck havoc

And everything you've ever known turns to dust

And everything you've ever been turns into everything you will ever be

Who are we? For we do not know any more

Faded and jaded

Slowly losing control

Letting ourself hide into the oblivion

Desperately hanging onto a thread of fate and hope

That someday you'll clap your wings again and be yourself again

As if you were just a butterfly in its resting phase.
